Okay so this is going to be a short review. I tried to start this text with an open mind. However if a mystery can't fire your brain in the next 10 or so pages it is done. And this little book is done. I love the idea behind this. But a second book should have it's world truly established.
Once the world is built, move the story along. I can tell the writer was in TV writing because the feeling of the dialogue was an attempt to be a sitcom with a mystery component. Not a mystery first.
The Book in Question
This blog is all about two things. The first is the mat, be it mma, pro wrestling, or any other combat sport. The Sense is from the book reviews and chatter. Mat Sense is about knowledge and knowing where you are. Also doing weekly reviews of Lucha Underground now

So keeping this simple, I am looking at this as a basic beach novel, a fun read when you are relaxing and probably would make a comedy of ...

Book Review: Inside the Criminal Mind (It's the Steak not the Sizzle)
Title:"Inside the Criminal Mind
Author:
Stanton Samenow PHD
This book for all its pretensions, reads more like someone took a dissertation and published it en mass. The title was catchy and that threw me off. While meaty and in depth the book is dull as dishwater on a cloudy day. I am not expecting greatness but this is hard.
For the psych nerd this is probably a great read, for the dabbler that is me...not so much.
And this is a hard confession but I could not even finish it.
So if its hard deep psych you are into then have at it, me I am going to enjoy the final Terry Pratchett book.

Empire of Sin Review: Mat Sense Reviews
So I have fallen in love with book reviews, sue me...gives me something to do during the chatty bits of RAW.
In keeping with the reviews of books from Blogging for Books. I am next going to be checking Gary Krist's Empire of Sin: A Story of Sex, Jazz, Murder, and the Battle for Modern New Orleans
The Big Easy has a very unique vibe to say the least, and reading about its germination and growth as a town is something that intrigues me. Seeing a city on the edge of greatness and corruption is fascinating to say the least. Also let no one say the folks in that town are not survivors.
What does this have to do with combat sports, honestly not probably enough, but hell...there has to be time between the fights right? New Orleans is a place that breeds characters. Sweet southern vibe, spicy Cajun food and Voodoo, these all lend themselves to unique faces, heels and even the Tweener if going the Pro Wrestling Route.
So let's step inside the Crescent City, hearing the strains of jazz and enjoying that perfect hurricane. Its time to get my and your read on!

After this bad boy is done, I am going on to review more books in the spy genre, so lets get our James Bond and George Smiley on!
